ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Carole Edwards is an award-winning freelance travel writer and occasional fiction author. Her successes include first prize in the McKinley Kidd travel writing competition and runner-up in Guardian Public’s essay-writing challenge. Her short stories have been longlisted and shortlisted in Wimbledon Bookfest’s annual competition for authors.

A passionate traveller since the age of 16, Carole was a regular columnist for New Zealand News UK in the early 2000s. She started Coconut Lands Slow Travel Blog in 2020 and has contributed to various other publications and blogs since then, notably A Way Abroad.

Carole was born in northern England and now lives in Wellington, New Zealand, with her family. Before starting her blog, she had a long career in library and information management, working mainly in the government and academic sectors in the UK and New Zealand.
